Speaking of flower in Japan, ume (Japanese Apricot) was most popular until its champion status was taken by cherry in Heian period (794-1185). Many people have loved its lovely form and sweet fragrant so much that ume blossoms have been frequently used as a motif of classical paintings, literature and theater arts.
